Burkina Faso: Saturday 25 May, A day Burkinabe are waiting for

The National Conference on Transition opened this Saturday, May 25, 2024, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Scheduled to last two days, this consultation framework brings together diverse stakeholders from across the country at the Ouaga 2000 conference hall this Saturday and Sunday.

Participants include representatives from political parties, civil society organizations (CSOs), traditional and religious authorities, defense and security forces (FDS), and volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP).

The main topic on the agenda is the possible extension of the transition period under Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

This issue has captured the attention of many Burkinabe. While there are supporters of the current transition, there are also those who are critical of the present authorities.

However, recent events and demonstrations indicate that many people strongly support the transition due to its numerous initiatives benefiting the nation.

These supporters hope to see the current team continue their efforts to ensure effective national security, restore peace and stability, and promote sustainable development.

They believe that securing the entire country is essential before organizing elections, allowing all Burkinabe, regardless of their location, to fully participate.

Consequently, there has been a call for massive mobilization at the conference venue to reaffirm their support and secure a favorable response to their request for an extended transition period.
