Paulo Dybala omitted from Argentina’s 2024 Copa America squad: A shocking decision

The omission of Paulo Dybala from Argentina’s squad for the upcoming 2024 Copa America has come as a major shock. Lionel Scaloni, the head coach of the reigning champions, has opted to leave out one of the key players from the Albiceleste roster.

This unexpected decision has raised eyebrows as Argentina, the winners of the last Copa America and the subsequent World Cup, prepares to defend their title this summer.

With Argentina being the team to beat and under the watchful eyes of competitors like Brazil, Scaloni aims to present a highly competitive squad.

On Monday, he revealed an extended list of 29 players for the Copa America preparations, which will kick off on June 21.

Following friendly matches against Ecuador and Guatemala on June 10 and 14, Scaloni will trim the roster down to 26 for the tournament.

While notable names such as Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria are included, the glaring absence of Paulo Dybala has captured everyone’s attention.

Despite never securing a pivotal role in the national team, Dybala has been a part of all major competitions with the Albiceleste.

In the recent World Cup, he contributed to Argentina’s victory by converting a penalty during the shootout against Hugo Lloris in the final.

Dybala, who currently plays for AS Roma, had an impressive club season, scoring 16 goals and providing 10 assists in 38 matches.

Despite this stellar performance, he will not participate in the Copa America.

According to Argentine journalist Gaston Edul, there is no chance of a reversal in this decision; Dybala is 100% excluded from the tournament.
