Togo : President Faure Gnassingbé drives a new dynamic for Togolese agriculture

One of the main objectives of the Togolese Head of State, H.E. President Faure Gnassingbé, is to accelerate the agricultural development of Togo. To achieve this goal, a series of actions are being taken to strengthen expertise and financing in the country’s agricultural sector.

In this context, the University of Lomé (UL) has entered into a strategic partnership with the consulting firm Agri Consulting Europe SA (AESA) on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, during a signing ceremony attended by university authorities and teachers.

Indeed, this partnership is of crucial importance in the context of public policies initiated by the Head of State, where agriculture is now placed at the heart of national priorities. Professor Adama Kpodar, President of the University of Lomé, emphasizes the institution’s commitment to supporting the government in the implementation of these ambitious policies.

Under the enlightened leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, « UL is committed to playing a leading role in the transformation of the Togolese agricultural sector. This partnership with AESA will strengthen our capacity to contribute significantly to the agricultural development of the country », says Professor Kpodar.

The main objective of this collaboration is to provide UL with the tools and expertise necessary to meet the requirements of international donors, while enhancing its support for national agricultural policies. By partnering with AESA, UL aims to offer its teachers and students high-level technical support and employment opportunities in the agricultural sector.

For Gianluca Vedova, representing AESA, this partnership opens the door to many opportunities both nationally and internationally. « Our expertise and experience will enable us to help UL position itself in the international market and seize opportunities offered by donors », he says.

This partnership, discussed for the first time three months ago, demonstrates the joint commitment of the Togolese government and the University of Lomé to work together for the sustainable development of the agricultural sector. By uniting their efforts, they aim to strengthen national expertise and actively contribute to the agricultural prosperity of Togo.
