Niger : Nigerien prime minister on a working visit to ankara

Nigerien Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance , Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, flew to Ankara in the Republic of Turkey on Wednesday, January 31, for a working session.

The Nigerien Prime Minister was reportedly invited by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He will stay there until Saturday, February 3, 2024, taking the opportunity to discuss with Turkish authorities about their bilateral cooperation, focusing particularly on education, health, infrastructure, and security.

During the talks scheduled for Thursday, February 1, and Friday, February 2, in Ankara, all aspects of bilateral relations between Turkey and Niger and measures to improve cooperation will be discussed, according to the Turkish presidency’s statement.

In addition to bilateral relations, the two leaders are expected to exchange views on current regional and global issues. It is worth noting that Nigerien authorities seek to strengthen existing relationships and establish new partnerships that align with the new principles of the military regime to address the current challenges in the country.

Hence, the Prime Minister’s tour, which began in January 2024. After Russia and Iran, it is now Turkey’s turn to strengthen its cooperation with a country threatened by terrorism and burdened by the heavy sanctions from ECOWAS and UEMOA for over six (06) months.
