Burkina Faso: «Firepower will increase» says the Head of State

In a show of resilience against the persistent threat posed by armed terrorist groups, the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, recently handed over a significant set of war materials to the armed forces of Burkina Faso.

During a discussion with the staff of the Presidency of Faso, the Head of State proudly announced the acquisition of «more powerful missiles» to enhance the country’s firepower against terrorists.

Captain Ibrahim Traoré stated, «Currently, we have acquired much more powerful missiles. We have obtained ones that are 2, 3, 5, 10 times more potent, and more are still on their way…».

He also emphasized that numerous additional equipment items are expected throughout the year, significantly boosting the firepower of the armed forces.

On January 12th, the President of the Transition presented a substantial batch of military equipment to the Ministry of Defense, comprising rolling assets, combat weapons, and ammunition, as reported by the Burkinabe presidency.

This acquisition marks the initiation of a series of five, in line with the strategic plan for the equipment of the national armed forces, as affirmed by the military.

«All these armaments have been funded by taxpayer money», highlighted Captain Ibrahim Traoré, urging the Burkinabe population to increase their involvement in efforts to eradicate terrorists from the country.

Since January 1, 2024,  in Burkina Faso, authorities have implemented a deduction from the salaries of both public and private sector workers with the goal of acquiring equipment to combat the armed terrorist groups that have been carrying out attacks in the country since 2015.
