Niger: Receipt of New Contributions to the FSSP
Nigeriens living in the country and in the diaspora continue to mobilize through their contributions in kind and in cash, following the call made by the transitional government through the creation of the Fund for the Safeguarding of the Homeland (FSSP). National sovereignty being a matter for all sons of Niger, the people should redouble their efforts for the success of the FSSP in order to revive the economy of Niger.
As a result, the chairperson of the fund’s management committee received several contributions this Saturday, notably from Groupe Ego International SA, valued at an estimated 100 million FCFA in both cash and kind, as well as a delegation from the village of Toukounou, with a contribution valued at 2.250.000 FCFA.
Following the ceremony for receiving the contributions, the Permanent Secretary of the CNSP praised these patriotic gestures. On behalf of the President, the Head of State, Brigadier General Abdourahamane Tiani, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed, which he considers an unwavering show of support.
Acknowledging the contribution of Groupe Ego International SA, the Permanent Secretary of the CNSP also deemed this gesture as support from the group towards the population. «I express my gratitude for this exceptional gesture in both cash and kind, which encourages us in our fight to restore Niger’s honor», he declared.
It should be noted that on the morning of Friday, November 24, the FSSP management committee received other contributions. Among them, the committee received a contribution from the Water and Forestry Department staff amounting to 16.426.000 FCFA. Niger’s filmmakers donated 100.000 FCFA. They also assured the president of FSSP that they will continue to make contributions through the production of awareness-raising films.
Launched on October 8th, the FSSP aims to combat terrorism on one hand and finance the state budget, subject to sanctions from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) following the aftermath of the July 26th coup.
The diaspora is invited to support public projects, especially considering that remittances from Nigeriens in the diaspora amounted to over 186 million dollars in 2022.
