Burkina Faso: An Iranian delegation ends its stay in Ouaga as part of the first session of the joint cooperation commission

The first session of the joint cooperation commission between Burkina Faso and the Islamic Republic of Iran ended on Thursday 5 October after four days of meetings. The aim is to boost cooperation relations between the two countries.

The first session of the joint cooperation commission led to the signing of eight (8) partnership agreements, initialled by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkina Faso Abroad, Olivia Rouamba, and the Iranian Minister of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare, Sayet Solat Mortazavi.

The document initialled lists partnership agreements in the fields of environmental protection, mining and energy, urban planning and construction, labour and social welfare, higher education, the pharmaceutical industry, vocational training, and technical and vocational education and training.

Iranian experts are expected in Burkina Faso in the next few days for the operational phase of the agreements signed.

As far as defence and security are concerned, a more detailed framework will be set up in the coming days with experts in the field to take the discussions further, according to the head of Burkina Faso’s diplomacy, Olivia Rouamba.

Before signing these partnership agreements, the President of the Transition, Ibrahim Traoré, Head of State, granted an audience to the Iranian delegation headed by the Iranian Minister of Labour, Cooperation and Social Welfare, Seyyed Soulat MORTAZAVI, on Thursday.

The next session of the Joint Commission for Cooperation between Burkina Faso and the Islamic Republic of Iran is scheduled for 2025.
