Foot: Manchester City Puts Kevin De Bruyne’s Contract Talks on Hold Amidst Injury Recovery

Manchester City has decided to put discussions about Kevin De Bruyne’s contract extension at the Etihad Stadium on hold. De Bruyne’s current contract is set to expire in 2025, but any talks of an extension are currently off the table until he recovers from his recent surgery.

De Bruyne has been unavailable since the start of the season due to a persistent hamstring issue.

The injury was significant enough to require surgical intervention, and although the club’s medical staff is optimistic about his recovery, De Bruyne is not expected to return to the pitch until early next year.

The Daily Star reports that Pep Guardiola wants to keep the Belgian at the Etihad but believes it’s crucial for him to focus on his rehabilitation before resuming contract negotiations.

The postponement of contract talks has garnered attention, especially with De Bruyne’s current deal nearing its expiration date.

The Manchester City captain, who has earned 99 caps for the Belgian national team, remains content with his situation at the club.

However, he is aware that if a new contract isn’t signed before the end of the season, some of Europe’s top clubs may express interest in securing his services.
