Destabilisation plot: Liberian mercenaries suspected on the border between Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire

Recent events in Burkina Faso have raised concerns about a potential plot to destabilise the current regime. Although this information is still at the rumour stage, it warrants serious attention. Liberia, previously praised for its categorical rejection of ECOWAS military intervention in Niger following the events of 26 July, is now at the centre of allegations of a possible attempt to destabilise Burkina Faso. According to the rumours, Liberian mercenaries have been apprehended on the border between Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso.

The same sources suggest that these mercenaries are actively planning to destabilise the transition under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

The question that remains is: what could be Liberia’s motivation for getting involved in such an affair?

Côte d’Ivoire, for its part, is notorious for its involvement in harmful manoeuvres.

There is nothing to cast doubt on its side, even if these rumours have not yet been confirmed by reliable sources.

The number of plots against the state of Burkina Faso seems to be increasing.

Since last month, reliable sources have been reporting the presence of foreign mercenaries on Burkinabe territory, with the presidency of Captain Ibrahim Traoré and certain high authorities of the country as their main target.

The significant progress in security achieved under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré has not only weakened terrorist groups, but has also disrupted Burkina Faso’s international enemies.

It is through insecurity that these enemies manage to plunder the country’s resources.

To achieve their objectives, these enemies are prepared to do anything to keep the terrorist phenomenon alive in Burkina Faso, as well as in other Sahel countries, notably Mali and Niger.

As a result, an appeal is being made to the people of Burkina Faso living on the border with Côte d’Ivoire to remain vigilant in the face of these worrying rumours.

A solemn appeal is also being made to the authorities in Liberia and Côte d’Ivoire to take immediate action to prevent any form of destabilisation directed against their sister country Burkina Faso.

From now on, it is crucial that the people of Burkina Faso remain united behind their leaders so as not to give satisfaction to the enemy.

Burkina Faso’s security and sovereignty depend on it.
