Burkina Faso: The situation of compatriots expelled from Ghana: President Ibrahim TRAORÉ sends a delegation to offer them assistance and solidarity

On the orders of the President of the Transition and Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, a government delegation was sent to Dakola, at the Burkina-Ghana border, to assess the situation of compatriots  expelled from Ghana.  Mrs. Nandy Somé/Diallo, Minister in charge of Humanitarian Action, and Commissioner of Police Mahamadou Sana, Minister Delegate in charge of Security were leading the delegation.

The main objective of this visit was to understand the difficulties faced by compatriots who were expelled from Ghana and to express the solidarity of the Burkinabe people.

In total, there are 250 individuals, including 35 men, 85 women, and 130 children. These individuals claim that they were unable to retrieve their belongings or bring their administrative documents with them.

The government has committed to providing emergency humanitarian assistance and establishing an arrangement for their dignified return.

Minister Nandy Somé/Diallo emphasized that the delegation was present on behalf of the Head of State to assess the living conditions of the compatriots and express the solidarity of the entire nation and government.

At the end of the visit, a communal meal was organized to symbolize this solidarity. Efforts will be made to facilitate the return of the compatriots to their homes.

The government delegation’s visit to Dakola, at the Burkina-Ghana border, to assess the situation of compatriots expelled from Ghana, demonstrates the commitment of the Burkinabe government to provide emergency humanitarian assistance and express solidarity towards its citizens.
