Burkina Faso: Spectacular demonstrations by the Special Intervention Unit of the National Gendarmerie

On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, in Burkina Faso, precisely at Ouaga 2000, on the field in front of the conference hall, took place a demonstration on rappelling techniques from a helicopter. This heliporting demonstration was organized by the Burkinabe National Gendarmerie.

This demonstration on rappelling techniques from a helicopter comes the day after the SYSDEF (International Synergy Exhibition for Safety, Security, and Defense) was held.

Lasting for 72 hours, this exhibition aims to be a platform for meetings between Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and companies operating in the security sector.

The objective is to achieve synergy of actions among these different actors in the context of the internal security of African states in general and Burkina Faso in particular.

The Special Intervention Unit of the National Gendarmerie, which organized this exhibition, saw the participation of its members with an exciting helicopter rappelling exercise using a rope.

The firefighters, on the other hand, provided a demonstration on fire safety. They explained the steps to take in the event of a flaming gas bottle leak in a house and how to extinguish a fire.

According to them, in the case of a flaming gas bottle, you simply need to wet a mop, squeeze it, protect your hands without panicking, cover the bottle with the mop, and extinguish the fire.

The second exercise focused on « how to extinguish a fire in a house» using a fire extinguisher, water, or powder.

It should be noted that the opening of this exhibition brought together all military and paramilitary forces, as well as private security agencies.

The opening ceremony of this heliporting demonstration  was presided over by the Chief of Staff’s Director, Captain Martha Céleste Anderson Medah.
