Foot/Mercato: New Al-Ettifaq coach Steven Gerrard wish to sign Coutinho
Steven Gerrard is keen to recruit Aston Villa’s Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho to his squad.
Gerrard, who worked with Coutinho at Aston Villa and played with him at Liverpool, considers the former Catalan one of his top targets in the transfer market, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Philipe Coutinho joined Aston Villa from Barcelona in 2022 for a fee of €20 million, with the Catalan club retaining 50% of his future transfer fee.
During the 2022/2023 season, the Brazilian played 20 Premier League games, scoring just one goal and providing no assists. His current contract with Aston Villa runs until the end of June 2026. According to the website Transfermarkt, the player’s approximate value is €10 million.
