Burkina Faso customs sets ambitious revenue target of 1,367 Billion FCFA for 2026

On Thursday, February 19, 2026, the Customs Directorate General of Burkina Faso set the tone for the year ahead. Bringing together all bureau chiefs under the leadership of Divisional Inspector Yves Kafando, a high-level strategic meeting convened in the Gilbert Zoungrana hall of Ouagadougou. The objective is clear and ambitious: mobilize the institution to achieve the annual revenue target of 1,367 billion FCFA, a critical imperative for financing the national economy.

Within the context of the Popular Progressive Revolution, this consultation aimed to be more than a simple working meeting.

It reflects a demonstrated commitment to increased accountability among operational field units and the consolidation of a genuine performance culture within customs administration.

Addressing his colleagues, the director general firmly reminded that this budget objective transcends mere administrative framework; it constitutes an institutional duty and strategic contribution to the economic resilience of Burkina Faso.

The speech of the customs chief carried notes of rigor and expectation. Yves Kafando emphasized the necessity of permanent vigilance and flawless operational supervision.

The fight against fraud, which deprives the state of valuable resources, must be sustained and intensified. But beyond enforcement, he called for methodological change.

He advocated for daily, methodical monitoring of recovery indicators based on flow anticipation, responsiveness to unforeseen events, and total accountability from each bureau chief.

Bureau chiefs, the operational links in the recovery chain, were urged to exercise assertive leadership.

The director general invited them to innovate in their management methods and continuously optimize performance margins.

According to him, the challenge lies in finding the right balance between three imperatives: effective tax revenue mobilization, smooth facilitation of legal commerce to avoid hindering economic activity, and reinforced societal protection against trafficking and illicit goods.

Through this meeting, the custom service of Burkina Faso demonstrates its determination to rise to the country’s economic challenges of the country.

By empowering its executives and advocating transformative management, the institution prepares to fully play its role as a pillar of national financial sovereignty.
