Burkina Faso: SONASP becomes the new giant of the national economy thanks to the Head of State’s vision
Some figures leave a mark on the mind; others change the course of history. The year 2025 will be written in golden letters in the trajectory of Burkina Faso. For the very first time since independence, the revenues of a single state-owned company have surpassed the entire national budget revenue. A single public enterprise generates more financial resources than the tax administration over a full year. This exceptional result has a name: The National Company for Precious Substances (SONASP). This victory crowns the political vision of Captain Ibrahim Traoré and confirms the correctness of the sovereignist course.
SONASP posted a turnover of 3,281.1 billion CFA francs at the end of the 2025 fiscal year. A year earlier, this amount stood at 960.38 billion CFA francs. The spectacular increase reached 241.64%. In the same period, total national budget revenues amounted to 3,149.8 billion CFA francs.
The positive gap in favor of SONASP thus stands at 131.3 billion CFA francs. In just two years, this state structure has overtaken SONABHY to become Burkina Faso’s number one economic engine.
This meteoric rise illustrates the strength of rigorous and sovereign management, the leitmotif of Captain Ibrahim Traoré for national development. SONASP, created in October 2023 on the foundations of the former ANEEMAS, posted a net profit of 5.88 billion CFA francs.
Its financial autonomy rate made a remarkable leap, rising from 19.18% to 35.97%, with net wealth creation of 8.72 billion CFA francs.
These solid metrics demonstrate that public management, free from private appetites, can produce results of formidable efficiency.
This economic miracle is no accident. It reflects Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s political decision to take back control over the nation’s wealth. For decades, the country’s gold fed networks of outside interests, with no direct benefit to the population.
Today, direct management of strategic minerals puts Burkina Faso’s underground gold at the exclusive service of the nation.
The Head of State thus proves that a sovereign country controls its own destiny when it chooses political courage and a break with the old order.
This historic success redefines Burkina Faso’s standing. The country demonstrates to the world the relevance of economic patriotism.
Revenue from mineral resources now directly funds infrastructure construction, territorial security efforts, and improvements in citizens’ living conditions. The Burkinabe revolution advances with confidence, built on concrete facts and irrefutable results.
Financial freedom is no longer a distant promise; it is the foundation of the nation’s real development.
