Togo: The country is building a giant dry port in Agbandi to strengthen its regional logistics hub

Togo is intensifying its logistics development strategy with the preparation of a massive new dry port in Agbandi, located in the Blitta prefecture. This large-scale project, led by the Autonomous Port of Lomé (PAL), aims to extend the port’s influence into the country’s interior and solidify the nation’s position as a West African trade hub.

Following the already operational dry port in Adétikopé, this new infrastructure will cover an exceptional area of 1,416 hectares in the Central Region.

Its strategic placement in the heart of the country serves a clear ambition: to streamline the transportation of goods, decongest roads, and provide an integrated logistics platform for national and regional economic actors.

The topographic survey phase is currently underway; an essential technical step to precisely delineate the perimeter of the project  and legally secure all the land parcels.

This meticulous preparation ensures solid administrative and technical foundations before the launch of construction work.

The Agbandi dry port represents a strategic link in the logistics value chain of Togo.

It will help decongest the Port of Lomé, optimize the storage and redistribution of goods, and reduce the time and cost of domestic and cross-border transport.

The project aligns with the vision of the government of establishing Togo as a benchmark logistics corridor in West Africa.

By developing interconnected multimodal infrastructure, the country enhances its economic attractiveness and its capacity to serve as a commercial gateway between the coast and the Sahelian hinterland.
