Burkina Faso: When the RIMTALBA 2 Government gets ready for action
The President of Burkina Faso, Head of State, His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré, chaired the first ordinary session of the Council of Ministers of the RIMTALBA 2 Government on Thursday, following the recent reshuffle on 12 January 2025. This meeting provided an opportunity to examine and adopt several major issues, reflecting the desire of the executive to respond swiftly and decisively to the deep aspirations of the Burkinabe people, particularly in terms of security, economic development and social welfare.
Among the key decisions was the institutionalisation of the presidential initiative “Faso Mêbo”, now established as the Faso Mêbo Agency.
Another issue of paramount importance that was adopted concerns the security of the national territory.
The Council approved a new legal regime applicable to Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP).
On the economic front, the government has approved a series of massive investments totalling more than 110 billion CFA francs.
These funds, described as “structural”, are intended to finance infrastructure projects and priority sectoral programmes aimed at accelerating the economic and social development of Burkina Faso.
This first meeting of the RIMTALBA 2 Government marks an important step in the implementation of the presidential roadmap under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
