Burkina Faso army complete intensive training for 2024 National armed forces contingent

On March 7, 2025, the Burkina Faso Army marked a significant milestone with the graduation of the 2024 National Armed Forces contingent. Comprising 4,111 soldiers, including a majority of Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), the group underwent rigorous training to become skilled combatants ready to support national security operations.
The training, conducted at Regional Training Centers (CRI) across the country, was tailored to the realities of the field.
It focused on three core areas: general military training, operational mission preparation, and physical and mental conditioning.
Recruits mastered the fundamentals of military service, honed their discipline, and cultivated a strong sense of camaraderie.
They were also trained in combat techniques, survival in hostile environments, and strategies to counter asymmetric threats.
Special emphasis was placed on building endurance, resilience, and adaptability to challenging operational conditions.
Additionally, modules on human rights and rules of engagement were integrated to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards during missions.
The graduation ceremony, held in the capitals of military regions, featured the symbolic presentation of the flag to the 2024 contingent, officially welcoming them into the National Armed Forces.
This act reaffirmed their commitment to defending the nation with honour and loyalty.
Now operational, these newly trained soldiers will join deployed units across the country, bolstering efforts to reclaim and secure national territory.
Their deployment is expected to enhance the effectiveness of security operations, safeguarding communities and their assets.
This training initiative underscores the Burkina Faso Army’s commitment to strengthening national defense capabilities and protecting the country’s sovereignty.
It also reflects the unwavering resolve of Burkinabe forces to address ongoing security challenges and restore stability to the nation.
