The President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, presided over the National Day of Academic Excellence this Friday at the Ouaga 2000 Banquet Hall. A total of 138 students and 26 teachers were honored for their outstanding performance and dedication to the education system.
Two teachers were especially recognized as “super teachers”:
- Mahoua Kanxoulou Baoula (primary level)
- Adama Zallé (middle school level)
Each received a trophy, a villa, a cash prize of 5 million CFA francs, an exceptional decoration as Knight of the Order of Academic Palms, and a congratulatory letter from the Head of State.
In his address, Captain Ibrahim Traoré commended the awardees and urged them to “continue striving, to act responsibly, to demonstrate patriotism, and to foster peace and love for others.”
On behalf of the honorees, Mrs. Nathalia Kaboré expressed her gratitude and affirmed their commitment to being “ambassadors of the nation.”
Held under the theme: “Academic Excellence: A Springboard for Patriotic Commitment and Endogenous Development in Burkina Faso,” the 2025 edition was sponsored by Mikailou Sidibé, Minister of Urban Planning and Housing, and Lassiné Diawara, President of the Bank of Africa Foundation.
The ceremony was also attended by invited delegations from Mali, Niger, and the Organization for African Refugees and Students (OREA).
Established in 2005, the National Day of Academic Excellence aims to promote quality in education, reward top-performing students and teachers, and encourage civic engagement in service of Burkina Faso’s development.
