Togo: H.E. Faure Gnassingbé identifies access to drinking water as a driver of development and social progress
Under the impetus of the President of the Council, Faure Gnassingbé, Togo is resolutely pursuing its policy of developing essential infrastructure to sustainably improve the living conditions of its populations. Among the priorities of the government is universal access to drinking water; a major issue for health, well‑being, and the socio‑economic development of communities, particularly in the northern regions of the country.
In this dynamic, the construction and rehabilitation works on hydraulic infrastructure launched in 2025 in the Savanes and Kara regions are recording significant progress.
This advancement was noted during an inspection visit led by the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Sena Alipui, accompanied by a delegation from the World Bank, a key partner in these structuring projects.

In Bassar, several major achievements are underway, including the construction of a 10,000 m³ water tower, the drilling of new production points at Kabou, Gandè, and Soudou Tchalimdè, as well as the rehabilitation of existing infrastructure.
The installation of a 17‑kilometer distribution network will also considerably extend drinking water coverage.
Managed by SP‑Eau with financial support from the World Bank, these investments reflect the vision of President of the Council Faure Gnassingbé to guarantee every citizen a decent living environment.
By strengthening access to drinking water, the government is concretely responding to the needs of the populations and laying the foundations for inclusive and sustainable development.
