Niger – Burkina Faso / Strengthening cooperation: AES pountries united for digital sovereignty

The collaboration between Burkina Faso and Niger during the National Digital Week demonstrates the ongoing commitment of the Sahel States Alliance countries towards digital sovereignty. During this inaugural event, Burkina Faso was honored as a special guest, highlighting the dynamic cooperation within the Alliance.

Dr. Amina Sabane Zerbo, Minister of Digital Transition, Postal Services, and Electronic Communications of Burkina Faso, represented her country in Niamey, where she was received in audience by the Nigerien Head of State, accompanied by her Malian and Nigerien counterparts. This meeting strengthened the ties between member countries of the AES, symbolizing a spirit of solidarity and collaboration.

In a fruitful exchange, leaders shared greetings and thanks from the Transitional Presidents of Burkina Faso and Mali to the President of the CNSP of Niger. Minister Zerbo emphasized the honor represented by the attention given by the highest authorities to their mission of socio-economic development in the digital sector. This recognition reflects the willingness of AES governments to promote the potential of digital technology as a driver of progress and empowerment for populations.

The National Digital Week, themed « Digital and Sovereignty », provides a platform to stimulate the private sector and encourage its support for government initiatives. It also aims to promote an innovative digital industry that creates value, showcasing innovative digital uses in key sectors such as agriculture, health, education, commerce, and public services.

This strong collaboration between Burkina Faso and Niger, supported by active participation from Mali, illustrates the potential for cooperation within the AES to stimulate development and strengthen digital sovereignty.
