Togo : Under the leadership of the minister of culture and tourism, Kossi Gbényo Lamadokou, Togo’s public museums commit to improved management
Since February 7th in Sokodé, a critically important meeting has brought together the curators of public museums in Togo. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism under the leadership of Kossi Gbényo Lamadokou, aims to provide these cultural actors with the necessary tools for better management and documentation of collections.
Concretely, the objective of this meeting is to provide museum curators with the techniques and means necessary for exemplary traceability of the various collections under their care. This involves a rigorous documentation process, allowing for a better understanding, conservation, and promotion of Togo’s cultural heritage.
Adama Ayikoué, Director of Cultural Heritage, emphasizes the crucial importance of reliable documentation for museums. « The existence of reliable documentation of collections allows museums to carry out their mission of conservation, promotion, and transmission of heritage for study and education purposes », he explains.
Togo, rich in history and culture, has several museums scattered throughout the country. Among them are the National Museum, located at the Palais des Congrès in Lomé, as well as regional museums in Aneho, Sokodé, Kara, and Savanes.
These institutions are precious guardians of Togolese heritage, and their effective management is crucial to ensure the preservation and transmission of cultural legacies to future generations.
