Burkina-Faso: Land reclamation, food security and development: achievements and prospects of the Cascades transition
Recognition, congratulations, encouragement, and commitment – these are essentially the sentiments expressed by the vibrant forces of the Cascades region towards the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, during his visit to the region.
Administrative and local authorities, religious and traditional leaders, all have hailed President Ibrahim Traoré for the various achievements in the fight against terrorism, while reaffirming their support for the transition.
Indeed, in the Cascades, concerted actions by defense and security forces, patriotic volunteers, and dozos have led to the liberation of several localities. Beyond efforts to reclaim territory, the transition has also paid particular attention to the health and agricultural sectors. In this regard, several initiatives have been undertaken to ensure food security and improve the healthcare system in the region.
The Cascades, a region teeming with enormous potential, the presidential agricultural initiative, and the agro-sylvo-pastoral and fisheries offensive for 2023-2025 act as two catalyzing elements for agriculture in the region, transforming subsistence agriculture into commercial agriculture.
Today, with the government’s vision aiming for food sovereignty, Captain Ibrahim Traoré has implemented several mechanisms to increase farmers’ productivity and transform products locally. Additionally, the transition aims to launch the industrialization sector through the construction of factories and the rehabilitation of other production and processing units in the region.
