Ronald Araujo faces surgery and extended absence after Copa America injury

Ronald Araujo, a key defender for Uruguay and FC Barcelona, faces a challenging period following a significant injury during the Copa America quarter-final against Brazil on July 7.

Initially diagnosed with a severe muscle tear in his left thigh, Araujo was expected to be sidelined for about eight weeks.

However, further tests have not provided a clear prognosis, and the situation has worsened.

Upon returning to Barcelona, Araujo underwent additional evaluations which led to the decision that surgery is necessary.

This operation, aimed at ensuring a complete recovery and preventing future complications, will extend his absence from the field to approximately four months, with an expected return in December.
