Burkina Faso/Security & Defense: Another unscrupulous officer joins his peers outside the army

According to a decree dated Thursday, April 4th, enacted by the transitional president, Captain Ibrahim Traore, and the Minister of State in charge of defense, Captain Aboubakar Sidiki BARRY has been dismissed from the ranks of the National Armed Forces.

He is accused of serious misconduct. He joins six (06) other soldiers who were previously expelled from the Burkinabe army for similar serious offenses, clearly mentioned such as arms trafficking, fraud, theft and possession of materials belonging to others and to the army, or embezzlement of funds reserved for the bonuses of VDP (Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland).

In the case of Captain Aboubakar Sidiki Barry, now former Company Commander of the 34th Inter-Arms Regiment (34th RIA) in Fada N’Gourma, his offense was not clearly specified, but his actions were reprehensible and led him out of the circle of the Burkinabe armed forces, thus ending his military career in Burkina Faso.

As a reminder, the transitional president, Captain Ibrahim Traore, had already warned any soldier who, by their actions, sought to hinder the smooth running of the fight against terrorism and for the reconquest of the entire national territory. Soldiers commit to serving their country with honesty, loyalty, and dignity.

Anyone who fails to fulfill their commitments automatically puts their nation and fellow citizens in danger, especially as the country of upright men is currently going through a difficult time caused by terrorism. Hence the need to separate the dishonest from the armed forces, which are supposed to be solely concerned with the security of the Homeland and its citizens.

This should also serve as a lesson to anyone with similar intentions of harming the process of restoring peace and stability, which should lead the Burkinabes towards salvation, prosperity, and fulfillment.
