Gavi to miss Euro 2024 as recovery continues

Spanish midfielder Gavi will not be participating in Euro 2024 as he recovers from a serious injury. The young FC Barcelona player has been on the mend since sustaining an injury in late November.

Gavi, who has been training in the gym for several weeks, recently shared a video on the club’s social media showing his progress with running, jumping, and strength exercises.

Despite his promising recovery, Gavi’s return to competitive play is expected around October or November 2024, confirmed by Barcelona specialist journalist Fernando Polo.

The club is taking a cautious approach to ensure a full recovery, with a Barcelona official stating, “The goal is for Gavi to recover 100%.”

Even though he’s not currently on the field, Gavi has already met with Barcelona’s new coach, Hansi Flick, who considers the 19-year-old a crucial part of his plans.

Flick, who values Gavi’s skills and character, intends to make him and Ronald Araujo key figures in his team.

The coach appreciates Gavi’s aggressive pressing style, which fits perfectly with his tactical approach.

Gavi, who is contracted with Barcelona until 2026, played 15 matches last season, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

His return is eagerly anticipated by Barcelona fans, who hope he will quickly regain his form and help the team achieve its goals.
