Football : Juventus in a dilemma after Paul Pogba’s suspension
Juventus finds itself in a period of uncertainty regarding its midfield, particularly with Paul Pogba. After testing positive for testosterone in September 2023, any hopes of a favorable resolution quickly faded.
Despite efforts to demonstrate the lack of intent in using the substance, negotiations between Paul Pogba and Italian authorities failed to reach a satisfactory agreement.
The verdict is now final : a four-year suspension for the 2018 World Cup Champion. Reports indicate that the prosecutor’s demands have been upheld, casting a shadow over the player’s and the club’s future.
This decision leaves Juventus with two options : either terminate Paul Pogba’s contract or keep him on, paying minimum wage until the contract expires in June 2026, although the latter option seems unlikely.
In any case, this creates a significant void in Juventus’ squad and raises questions about the club’s and its officials’ handling of the situation.
The team will also need to seek a replacement worthy of Pogba’s influence on the field, posing a significant challenge for the coaching staff and recruitment team.
