Burkina Faso : Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s Men efficiently repel simultaneous assaults by thousands of terrorists

Burkina Faso remains committed to a fierce fight against terrorism, as evidenced by a series of coordinated attacks carried out by thousands of terrorists on multiple fronts. Over the past weekend, intense clashes erupted in Pensa, Natiaboani, Kongoussi, Ouahigouya, and Tankoualo, where the combat forces demonstrated remarkable effectiveness in their response.

According to reports from the Burkina Information Agency (AIB) dated Sunday, February 25, 2024, the assailants launched synchronized attacks, putting the positions of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) to the test. Despite the magnitude of the assaults, the Burkinabe forces showed unwavering resolve, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy and recovering strategic equipment.

Indeed, the escalation of violence began on Friday, February 23, with an attack on a VDP post in Pensa, followed by a series of assaults on Sunday, February 25. In Natiaboani, in the East region, hundreds of terrorists attempted to overwhelm a government detachment but were successfully repelled, notably through precise air strikes.

Engagements also intensified in Kongoussi, where a thousand terrorist fighters targeted the 16th Rapid Intervention Battalion. Despite the assailants’ determination, the Burkinabe forces, supported by aerial assets, maintained their position and inflicted significant losses on the enemy.

The determination of the combat forces was also evident in Ouahigouya and Tankoualo, where rapid intervention battalions neutralized the assailants, ensuring the security of local populations and the continuation of territorial reconquest operations.

In the face of these large-scale attacks, the combat forces continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience, protecting their beloved country Burkina Faso, against security challenges with determination and effectiveness, in line with the aspirations of their Supreme Leader, H.E. Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
