Football : Eder Militao’s imminent return, a breath of fresh air for Real Madrid
The Real Madrid is gearing up to welcome a key player back into their squad before the crucial end of the season, in the form of Eder Militao. The Brazilian defender had suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear last August during a match against Athletic Club, and since then, he has been working hard to make a speedy return to the field.
Militao’s progress has been remarkable. Just six months after the incident and subsequent surgery, he is already training individually with the ball and, according to sources close to him cited by Relevo, he is « virtually ready » to resume competition.
The aim is for Militao to soon rejoin collective training, in order to be back in time for the Champions League quarter-finals, which are set to begin in early April, pending Real Madrid’s advancement past RB Leipzig in the round of 16.
Militao’s return will be a significant asset for coach Carlo Ancelotti. Over the past two months, Real Madrid has only had Antonio Rudiger and Nacho Fernandez as true central defenders, forcing Aurélien Tchouameni and Dani Carvajal to fill in as backup options.
Soon, the team will have real depth in this position, providing better player rotation and greater tactical flexibility to tackle the challenges ahead.
