Bundesliga: Beaten in Bochum, Bayern Munich sinks even deeper into crisis

Bayern Munich suffered a third consecutive defeat in the Bundesliga, beaten on the field of Bochum (3-2) for the 22nd matchday, this Sunday, February 18th. More than ever shaken, the Munich team continues their dark streak and causes concern.

Bayern Munich plunged into a historic crisis by suffering a third consecutive defeat on Sunday, February 18th, against Bochum (3-2), after a Bundesliga match that was again heavily disrupted by German supporters’ protests.

This latest setback, following the 3-0 thrashing against Leverkusen and the 1-0 loss to Lazio in the Champions League, sees the Bavarians slip eight points behind the leader, Bayer Leverkusen, and further puts coach Thomas Tuchel’s position in jeopardy.

Bayern Munich ended the game with ten men after the dismissal of French international defender Dayot Upamecano, who conceded a penalty and received a red card, just like on Wednesday in Rome.

The reigning champions had opened the scoring through Jamal Musiala in the 14th minute, but they conceded two goals before halftime, one from a counterattack by Japanese player Takuma Asano (37th) and another from a header off a corner by Keven Schlotterbeck (44th).

Following a foul in the penalty area during an aerial duel, Upamecano received a second yellow card, resulting in his expulsion. Kevin Stöger converted the penalty for Bochum (3-1, 78th minute).
