Mali : FAMa takes control of gold mining site in intahaka, source of financing for terrorist groups
As part of their mission to reconquer and secure the national territory, the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) demonstrate commitment and determination by repelling and neutralizing terrorists.
The air-land operations conducted over the weekend secured a position of the army on the Benana-Mandiakuy stretch in the Tomian circle and thwarted an ambush in the Menaka region.
The brave and heroic Malian forces succeeded in annihilating terrorists who came to attack a security mission at the weekly fair in Mandiakuy and an escort convoy transporting food supplies 60 km from the city of Menaka. The outcome reports several terrorists killed and materials recovered.
The continued commitment of FAMA in securing the Malian territory has also enabled the takeover of the traditional gold mining site located in the Gourma zone, particularly in Intahaka. This site was a source of funding for these armed groups.
By taking control of the site, the Malian army thus puts an end to the financing of terrorists, which should have a positive impact on Mali’s fight against these criminals.
