Burkina Faso : Towards Agricultural Future with Captain Ibrahim Traoré at the End of 2023 !

In Burkina Faso on Friday, December 29, 2023, under the leadership of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the last Council of Ministers of the year 2023 was held. This Council was much more than a mere decision-making session. It was a veritable symphony of decisive actions to illuminate the path of the Transition, as eloquently stated by the government spokesperson, Minister of State Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo.

In the field of Agriculture, Animal Resources, and Fisheries, two exceptional reports were presented, discussing the prospective trajectory of the 2023-2024 rainy season. With a cereal production estimated at 5.346.304 tons, an increase of 1.30% compared to the previous year and 5.30% compared to the five-year average, Commander Ismaël Sombie highlighted achievements despite persistent challenges. The picture painted by Commander Sombie, depicting deficits in 19 provinces and surpluses in 19 others, prompted proactive reflection. An innovative plan to address vulnerable populations is being validated to address these disparities.

The second report, a true gem of the session, addresses the revival of the fruit and vegetable production sites of the former company Flex-FASO, covering a thousand hectares. Approved by the Council, this ambitious project will involve local populations, organized into cooperatives, in the revival of cashew and various fruit production.

Thus, under the exceptional leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, this Council of Ministers marks a pivotal moment where innovation, resilience, and vision guide actions to shape a dynamic agricultural future in Burkina Faso.
