Football/Union Berlin 2-3 Real Madrid

On a trip to the Olympiastadion in Berlin to challenge the Union this Tuesday evening, Real Madrid, assured of finishing at the top of group C, played hard to win (2-3). The Berliners finished last.

The first situation was however for Kevin Behrens, author of a nice volley in the hands of Kepa Arrizabalaga, following a bad recovery of Luka Modrić in his surface (2nd). The reaction in Madrid was quick, however, with Jude Bellingham making an incursion face-to-face, stopped by Frederik Rønnow (10th), then a header from Joselu at the top of the bar (16th).

A few minutes before the break, Modrić opened the scoring with a penalty from Diego Leite’s trailing arm. A sentence rejected by Rønnow (45′). And a misfortune never arriving alone, the Croatian could contemplate the goal of Kevin Volland, served by a mistake of release of David Alaba, concluded of a foot flat between the legs of Arrizabalaga (1-0, 45th+1).

On returning from the locker room, Carlo Ancelotti’s men pressed the accelerator to return, without success. Lucas Vázquez approached Rønnow with an acrobatic recovery (50′), followed by Rodrygo in the lead, who was also beautifully stopped by the Danish goalkeeper’s cuff (55′).

It was finally from Joselu that the release came, after a contentious duel with Paul Jaeckel and a well placed caboche (1-1, 61′). In the wake, the striker went for his double, similarly, this time launched by Fran García (1-2, 72′). And despite the equalizer from incoming Alex Král on a shave shot (2-2, 85th), Dani Ceballos confirmed the victory of the visitors by crossing his shot, slightly deflected by Jérôme Roussillon (2-3, 89th).

Real Madrid even wins the games without stakes.
