Benin / Burkina Faso: Presidents Romuald Wadagni and Ibrahim Traoré mark the start of a new chapter in cooperation in Ouagadougou

The  President  of Benin Romuald Wadagni was the guest of the Koulouba Palace in Ouagadougou, where he was received by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Head of State of Faso. This official visit, part of the  West African tour of the Beninese leader, included a tête-à-tête between the two Heads of state.

Following the meeting, the government issued a joint communiqué highlighting the decisive nature of this visit in revitalizing relations between the two countries. The discussions allowed for a thorough review of existing bilateral cooperation.

The two leaders expressed a shared desire to build a strong partnership based on three essential pillars: mutual trust, solidarity among nations, and consultation in the face of shared challenges.

The security issue dominated the talks, against a regional backdrop marked by a resurgence of terrorism and cross-border crime.

Presidents Ibrahim Traoré and Romuald Wadagni both called for intensified coordination to address these threats that are destabilizing all of West Africa.

By reaffirming their joint commitment to peace, stability, and sustainable development, the two heads of state send a strong signal: despite occasional differences within the sub-region, dialogue and cooperation remain indispensable levers for building a shared future.
