Arsenal end 22-year wait to clinch Premier League title
Arsenal have been crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years after Manchester City failed to beat Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
City’s 1-1 draw at the Vitality Stadium leaves Pep Guardiola’s side four points adrift with one game remaining, making the Gunners uncatchable.
Junior Kroupi put Bournemouth ahead in the 39th minute. Erling Haaland’s stoppage-time equalizer came too late for the champions of six of the last eight seasons, who needed a winner to keep the race alive.
The full-time whistle sparked wild celebrations outside the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice posted on Instagram: “I told you all … it’s done.”
Mikel Arteta’s side had finished runners-up for three straight seasons, including a heartbreaking two-point loss to City in 2023/24.
Now they claim their fourth Premier League title and 14th English top-flight crown moving them behind only Liverpool and Manchester United (20 each).
Their last league triumph came in 2003/04, when Arsène Wenger’s “Invincible” went unbeaten.
