DRC – Qatar: A strategic partnership under construction for development and peace
President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo met with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations. The high-level discussions focused on security issues and peace processes in the DRC, alongside plans to enhance cooperation between the two nations.
The Congolese leader outlined the efforts of his government to stabilize the volatile eastern regions with support from regional and international partners.
Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to peace, security, and sustainable development.
Beyond diplomatic ties, the meeting paved the way for expanded economic collaboration. Multiple infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and technology projects are under consideration as Qatar increasingly views mineral-rich DRC as a strategic African partner.
For President Tshisekedi, this engagement aligns with his vision to diversify international partnerships and attract sustainable investment for national modernization.
The upcoming reciprocal visit by the Qatari Emir to Kinshasa is expected to solidify this partnership through signed agreements and concrete projects, positioning the DRC as an influential regional actor pursuing balanced, mutually beneficial cooperation
