Football/ Salah enters Champions League history with record-breaking display

Mohamed Salah carved his name deeper into football’s record books on Wednesday during Liverpool’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Atlético Madrid. The Egyptian star became the first Premier League player in Champions League history to both score and assist a goal within the opening six minutes of a match.
According to Opta, the achievement underscores the explosive impact of Salah on the highest stage. His early strike also lifted him into the top 10 all-time scorers in the competition, now sitting alone in 10th place with 52 goals; surpassing Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
Salah and Samuel Eto’o (33 goals) remain the only African players in the Champions League’s top 30 scorers.
Of Salah’s 52 goals, 46 have been scored during his historic tenure with Liverpool, with the others coming from his time at Basel and Roma.
The 33-year-old continues to define an era at Anfield with his relentless goal contributions and knack for shining when it matters most.
His performance against Atlético not only sealed a crucial win but also reinforced his status as one of Europe’s most decisive modern attackers.
