Burkina Faso and World Bank review development portfolio in High-Level meeting

Ouagadougou hosted a strategic portfolio review of World Bank-funded projects in Burkina Faso, chaired by Economy Minister Aboubakar Nacanabo. Infrastructure Minister Adama Luc Sorgho joined World Bank Resident Representative Hamoud Abdel Wedoud Kamil and other officials to assess implementation progress and identify improvement areas for the country’s 19 national and 10 regional projects.
The Sopatel Silmandé hotel meeting analyzed operational challenges across key sectors, with the $4+ billion portfolio supporting education, health, agriculture, energy and infrastructure development.
Minister Nacanabo emphasized the partnership’s critical role amid Burkina Faso’s security, climate and economic challenges, while Kamil commended the government’s rigorous project management through the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Committee.
“Through effective coordination, we’ve delivered concrete results across multiple sectors,” stated Kamil, highlighting successful implementations.
Infrastructure Minister Sorgho specifically acknowledged World Bank support through initiatives like the SKBo project, noting their vital contribution to national development and connectivity goals.
The review established actionable solutions to enhance project effectiveness as Burkina Faso continues leveraging international partnerships to drive sustainable growth.
