CAF relocates Simba SC’s crucial Confederation Cup final to Zanzibar

Simba SC will host RS Berkane in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar instead of their usual Benjamin Mkapa venue in Dar es Salaam. The switch comes after an independent safety assessment confirmed ongoing renovations would not be completed in time for Sunday’s decisive clash.

The Tanzanian side, trailing 2-0 from the first leg, had hoped for a home advantage but must now rally supporters to travel to Zanzibar. CAF emphasized the move was necessary to ensure safety and compliance with stadium standards.

RS Berkane, buoyed by goals from Mamadou Camara and Oussama Lamlaoui, are favorites to lift the trophy. However, Simba—known for their resilience—will aim for a historic comeback.

The match kicks off at 16:00 local time (13:00 GMT), broadcast live on beIN Sports, Canal+, SuperSport, and other CAF partners.

The winner will claim a newly designed Confederation Cup trophy, set to be unveiled this week.

With high stakes and an unexpected venue change, the stage is set for a dramatic finale in African club football.
