Niger: CNSP launches 1st edition of Al’ada cultural week
On Friday, July 26, 2024, CNSP President General Abdourahamane Tiani launched the first edition of the cultural week « Al’ada » by beating the drum three times at the Kountché Stadium in Niamey.
During this launch ceremony, Prime Minister Lamine Zeine Ali Mahaman emphasized in his speech that certain events always leave a lasting mark on the lives of people and nations because they are unique occurrences that embody glory, pride, and dignity. These events are often the culmination of a noble, laborious, and arduous process, filled with deprivation, sacrifice, lost hope, and carried forward from generation to generation.
« Determination, self-awareness, and clear objectives are the key values that make such dates historic », said the Nigerien Prime Minister.
« On July 26, under the leadership of General Abdourahamane Tiani, the leadership of all components of our army has placed the people of Niger on the path to reclaiming their sovereignty and true independence. Niger has revealed itself to the world as a respectable country (…), it is the fusion of the entire people with their army on the path to asserting their sovereignty that has given our country its current radiant image », added the Head of Government.
The opening ceremony featured a ballet performance highlighting the resilience and heroism of the Nigerien army in the face of the enemy. This cultural week is organized to celebrate the first anniversary of the accession of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP) on July 26 and the 64th anniversary of the Proclamation of Niger’s independence on August 3.
