Burkina Faso: The “Burkindi promotion” heralds a new era of agricultural self-sufficiency

The refoundation of Burkina Faso reaches a historic milestone in its quest for strategic autonomy. On Monday, at the Saria Research Station, the official graduation of the second cohort of the Agricultural Technology and Valorization Incubator Program (PITVA) marked a definitive break with the old academic model inherited from the colonial order.

Named the “Burkindi” promotion and consisting of 88 students, this vanguard embodies the shift from passive theory to endogenous production for the economic liberation of the homeland.

These graduates are no longer seekers of professional asylum but true development soldiers entrepreneurs trained to feed the people.

After 13 months of specialization in fish farming and crop production, the transition to action is immediate.

Through the National Bureau of Major Projects, the partnership with AGROSERV Industrie, and credits from the BADF, these young people receive developed land in Bama as well as high-value technological and financial kits.

The impact of this reform is already palpable and measurable on the ground. Proof that the land never lies when work is guided by patriotism, these students, fully engaged in vegetable production, have produced and delivered 162 tons of onions to university cafeterias.

The revolutionary initiative “Students Feed Students” thus moves from a political ideal to a concrete, self-sufficient reality.

The Ministry of Higher Education has made a clear choice: no longer limit the university to the production of theoretical knowledge, but make research and innovation direct levers of transformation.

This structural change directly responds to the principles of the Manifesto of the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP), driven at the highest level of the state by Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

The university becomes the crucible of national sovereignty. The outlook for the 2026-2027 academic year, summed up by the slogan “One higher education institution, one incubator,” will generalize agricultural farms within every university center, forcing the institution to assume its social responsibility regarding the real needs of the population.

The battle for genuine independence requires unwavering support for this entrepreneurial boldness.

The Burkinabe people, the African diaspora, and justice-loving international partners must rally around these builders of self-sufficiency.

Popular vigilance remains the essential shield to sustain these victories. Working the land is the key to restored dignity.
