Burkina Faso: Maximum vigilance – the Minister for security calls on the public to be extra vigilant in the face of threats

The Minister of Security of Burkina Faso, in a solemn declaration, expressed his deep gratitude to the populations for their constant commitment to security vigilance and their active contribution to strengthening domestic security. Faced with a national context still marked by terrorist and criminal challenges, this citizen mobilization remains more essential than ever.

It is within this dynamic of consolidating gains and responding to persistent threats that a new large-scale operation is launched. As of today, April 28, 2026, Operation “WIBGA-2” is officially deployed across the entire Burkinabe territory.

This initiative aims to intensify security efforts, prevent enemy infiltration, and thwart any potential projects aimed at disrupting public order.

To this end, the Minister calls on all citizens to redouble their vigilance and strictly comply with current security directives. Populations are urged to be especially attentive in their neighborhoods, workplaces, public transportation, and near strategic infrastructure.

Cooperation between defense and security forces and civilians constitutes a decisive bulwark against the terrorist hydra.

More concretely, any suspicious case or behavior must be reported without delay to the competent authorities.

Among the warning signs not to be overlooked are: unusual increases in food purchases, suspicious acquisitions of dangerous products or explosive components, sudden occupation of dwellings by people refusing any contact with neighbors, refusal to undergo registration formalities in hotels, suspicious movements near barracks, airports, administrative buildings, and other installations of national interest, as well as repeated requests for information about sensitive sites.

The vigilance of all is the price of peace. The Minister reaffirms his confidence in the patriotism and civic-mindedness of the Burkinabe people to make Operation “WIBGA-2” a decisive success.
