Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré reaffirms the country’s sovereignty, a move welcomed by the African Union

Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso and Head of State of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), continues to make history in his country through his resolute actions in favor of national sovereignty. During his recent meeting with the President of the African Union, General Evariste Ndayishimiye, the latter expressed his admiration for the efforts made by President Ibrahim Traoré to restore peace and stability in a context marked by major security challenges.

President Ndayishimiye commended the exceptional crisis management of Captain Ibrahim Traoré and attested to the unwavering commitment of the Burkinabe people alongside their leader.

According to him, Burkina Faso today is a stable country, where the population lives in strengthened solidarity, united in the fight against terrorism and the preservation of its sovereignty in the face of external threats.

The African Union also recognized the courageous actions of the Burkinabe president.

Upon leaving the meeting at the Koulouba Presidential Palace, President Ndayishimiye stated: “Now I understand the objective reality of the Sahel region and the people of Burkina Faso…” A statement that highlights the gravity of the challenges Burkina Faso faces and the resilience of its citizens.

The commitment of President Ibrahim Traoré to peace and stability goes beyond rhetoric. His concrete actions, applauded by the African Union, reinforce the idea that the sovereignty of Burkina Faso and the Sahel region will only be preserved through enhanced cooperation among African nations and mutual support in the face of security challenges.
