Burkina Faso: Rapid intervention battalion secures key route in Gnagna province

Earlier this week, the 19th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR), under the command of Captain Lynx, successfully executed a large-scale escort mission on the Bogandé–Manni axis in the Gnagna province, located in the Sirba region. The operation ensured the safe passage of over a hundred vehicles, including supply trucks, transport buses, and civilian cars.

Throughout the journey, the combat forces demonstrated exemplary professionalism, guaranteeing the security of people and property on a route frequently targeted by terrorist groups.

Thanks to the vigilance of the Military Engineers, five improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were detected and neutralized before they could detonate, thereby preventing potential human and material losses.

This operation once again demonstrates the growing capability of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and their determination to restore free movement and peace in the most vulnerable areas.

It also highlights the effectiveness of the rapid intervention model, which has now become a cornerstone of the national strategy to secure the territory.

The local populations of Gnagna expressed their gratitude towards the FDS, praising the courage and discipline of the 19th BIR, whose actions continue to strengthen the trust between the army and citizens in their common struggle for peace and the sovereignty of Burkina Faso.
