Thomas Partey granted bail after court appearance over rape and sexual assault charges

Thomas Partey appeared in court on Tuesday, August 5, facing five counts of rape and one of sexual assault involving three different women. The 31-year-old Ghanaian, now a free agent after leaving Arsenal, was granted bail by Westminster Magistrates’ Court following a brief 15-minute hearing.

Partey, who has denied all allegations, was not required to enter a plea but confirmed he understood the charges and bail conditions.

The case has been referred to the Crown Court, with a hearing scheduled for September 2 at London’s Old Bailey, which handles major criminal cases.

The accusations relate to incidents alleged to have occurred between 2021 and 2022.

Partey was not publicly named until July 4, shortly after his Arsenal contract expired, following years of speculation. Currently linked with a move to Villarreal, the player maintains his innocence as legal proceedings continue.
