TP Mazembe Condemned by FIFA in Boris Mandjui Case

TP Mazembe has been hit with another blow as FIFA ruled against the Congolese club in a dispute involving Ivorian goalkeeper Boris Mandjui. The Lubumbashi-based team has been ordered to pay 36,000within 45days, including30,000 for wrongful contract termination and $6,000 in unpaid wages.

Mandjui, 28, joined TP Mazembe in 2023 but never played a single match due to a conflict between the club and his agent. The club unilaterally terminated his contract, prompting the goalkeeper to file a complaint with FIFA. The international governing body sided with Mandjui, who now plays for LYS Sassandra in the Ivorian Ligue 1.

This decision adds to TP Mazembe’s ongoing challenges, including a FIFA-imposed transfer ban for failing to settle disputes with other former players. The club’s inability to resolve these issues has tarnished its reputation and limited its ability to strengthen its squad.

Mandjui’s case highlights the growing scrutiny on clubs to honor contractual obligations, as FIFA continues to enforce financial and ethical standards in football. For TP Mazembe, the ruling underscores the urgent need to address internal management issues to avoid further penalties.
