Burkina Faso: The Creation of CPAMAP, A new chapter for poultry farming in the country

Burkina Faso reaches a significant milestone in the livestock sector with the establishment of the Center for the Promotion of Poultry Farming and Multiplication of High-Performing Animals (CPAMAP). Announced during the cabinet meeting on Thursday, April 25, 2024, this initiative aims to strengthen the genetic potential of livestock and promote the development of poultry farming on a national scale.

The establishment of CPAMAP stems from the merger of two existing entities: the Center for the Promotion of Agriculture and the Center for Multiplication of High-Performing Animals. This strategic merger will enable the pooling of human, logistical, and financial resources of the two structures, while addressing the management issues previously encountered. In particular, it will put an end to the employment of unqualified personnel in the centers for improving high-performing animals, as clarified by the Minister of Livestock, Amadou Dicko.

CPAMAP is committed to playing a crucial role in improving the genetic quality of livestock and promoting poultry farming across the country. This initiative reflects the Burkinabe government’s determination to modernize and revitalize the livestock sector, thereby offering new opportunities to livestock breeders and contributing to enhancing national food security.

This new structure is part of a series of reforms aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and diversifying income sources in the country. By investing in the development of livestock farming and poultry farming, Burkina Faso is embarking on a path of sustainable and inclusive economic growth, while addressing the challenges posed by climate change and increasing demographic pressure.
