Mali and Niger strengthen energy partnership
Mali and Niger are enhancing their partnership in the energy sector. A Nigerien delegation led by the Minister of Energy, Mahaman Moustapha BARKE, visited Bamako and was received in audience by the President of the Transition and Head of State, Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, on Tuesday, April 16.
This energy partnership agreement aims to provide Mali with 150 million liters of diesel, compared to last year’s delivery of only 22 million liters to the company Energie du Mali. This increase is intended to help the company meet the growing demand for fuel.
Discussions focused on improving the contract to harmonize and enhance its execution for the benefit of both parties. Efforts are underway to facilitate the transportation of these 150 million liters of diesel to Mali under optimal conditions and as quickly as possible.
This marks an important step in strengthening energy relations between Mali and Niger, demonstrating the willingness of both nations to cooperate closely for the well-being of their respective populations. President GOÏTA also encouraged the Energy Ministers of both countries to work together to enhance integration and called for greater community cohesion.
