Togo: The Government firmly committed to combating illicit commercial practices and ensuring the health of Togolese citizens
In an effort to protect its citizens, the Togolese government, under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, is intensifying social actions to strengthen the resilience of the population.
In terms of preserving the health of Togolese consumers, Togo, in collaboration with consumer rights advocacy groups, is closely monitoring against illicit commercial practices.
Continuing its efforts, the government has established the technical committee of the commission responsible for implementing the Automated Marking Solution (AMS). The establishment of this committee follows the entry into force of the Automated Marking System (AMS) by the Togolese Revenue Office (OTR) in September 2020 in the country.
Through the commission responsible for implementing the Automated Marking Solution (AMS), this system is waging war against all illicit commercial practices and allows the state to maximize revenue collection on one hand. On the other hand, it enables trade authorities to combat dubious quality consumer products imported by unscrupulous traders.
With this technical committee in place, it will serve as a support system for the commission to fully play its role. Essentially, it promotes the economy and also fights for the health of the population by preventing them from consuming counterfeit products or products manufactured outside standards.
