Football : Malian Coach Eric Chelle affirms his team’s technical superiority in Africa
According to the coach of the Malian team, Eric Chelle, no other African team can rival his on a given level. He recently analyzed Mali’s performance during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, focusing specifically on the match against Ivory Coast.
Before debriefing this encounter, Eric Chelle emphasized an important point : even though Mali’s team was eliminated, it remains the best in terms of technical quality and ball possession.
The coach even asserted that on these two aspects, no other African team can compete. He stated : « For some time now, when teams face us, if they want to play with good ball possession and high technical quality, they cannot. They are not at our level ».
Eric Chelle then added : « For now, I am only talking about Africa. We have not yet encountered European teams, except for Saudi Arabia. But in terms of gameplay, I think we are very well placed in Africa ».
