DRC : Troika meeting set for March 23 to assess the SADC mission, a regional force supporting the FARDC

In addition to the ongoing offensives by the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC), regional meetings are being prepared to find a solution to the security crisis in the eastern part of the DRC.

It is in this context that a meeting of the Troika, the body responsible for defense and security issues within the Southern African Development Community (SADC), is scheduled for March 23 in Lusaka, Zambia.

The meeting will focus on the progress of the SADC mission, a regional force deployed in the DRC to support the Congolese army in restoring peace and security.

In preparation for this regional summit, an extraordinary meeting of the Inter-State Defense and Security Subcommittee (ISDSC) is being held on March 21, 2024, followed by an extraordinary meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the Organ (MCO) and a meeting of senior officials of the MCO.

These three meetings have one objective : to find ways and means to end the rebellion perpetuated by the M23 and Rwandan allies on Congolese territory.

The latter two summits are intended to accelerate the transfer of SADC equipment currently at the African Union base in Cameroon. This aims to ensure the implementation of various regional missions in the DRC for the liberation of the country.
